Photography

I originally started photography to apply for a bachelor degree in design. Well that wasn’t the first time I held a camera, but it was the first time after years with a pair of eyes, that I started learning to see the world. Back then I used to roam through an old, abandoned US military airbase close to my former residency. It was like being in a dystopian, parallel world and I had all the time I wanted to focus on whatever I found interesting without being distracted. Today this place is mostly gone, but the photographs remain. During my studies I got more into street photography and anything that includes people and life anyway. Street photography was a natural evolution to my urban exploration tours, since I kept the role of the observer, that only takes action when the moment seems right and disappears when it’s gone. Nevertheless I’m looking forward to try more staged photography and anything that requires some further control of the photographic situation.

Closing Time

This series is about places that have been lively ground in the past and are now abandoned and forgotten. I did not upload quite much of these photographs yet, though I have taken hundreds of pictures from ghost towns, abandoned industrial- and military facilities through the years.
